About

Dr Tony Tan obtained his MBBS in National University of Singapore in 1993 and his specialist qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2000. He was further trained in fetal medicine including twin pregnancies at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, London for a year till June 2003. He was a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the department of Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital till October 2006 and then Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Clinical Director, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Raffles Hospital from November 2006 to June 2019.  He has set up his own clinic “Tony Tan Women and Fetal Clinic” at Mount Alvernia Hospital from 1st July 2019.

He has also been appointed as the Medical Director, Alvernia Obstetric Screening Centre from the same date. He specialises in the management of high-risk pregnancies. He has special interests in twin (both monochorionic and dichorionic) pregnancies, miscarriages, screening and diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, prevention and management of preterm labour, management of pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction and strategies to prevent stillbirth. He had published in academic journals and is regularly invited to give academic lectures to fellow obstetricians and gynaecologists at local, regional and international medical conferences regularly.

He was President of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore in 2013-2014 and Chairman, Maternal Fetal Medicine Committee of the Asia-Oceanic Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2013-2017. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in UK and Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He is also an examiner for the MRCOG examinations and the Exit examinations for local OG trainees. He is also a member of the SingHealth Centralised Institutional Review Board which is the central ethics review board to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in biomedical and behavioural research activities being conducted under the SingHealth institution. Dr Tan has been appointed as a member representing the College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Faculty of Medical Experts Committee, Academy of Medicine since 2021 and is also a member of the Medical Experts Committee (MEC) for Policies, Training and Education.  He has provided expert medical opinions for local obstetric medicolegal disputes.

Dr. Shanna Ng
Dermatology

Dr Shanna Ng is a Dermatologist with subspecialty fellowship training in Paediatric Dermatology. She practises at Ark Dermatology located at Mount Alvernia Hospital. She remains a Visiting consultant to the Eczema Clinic at Changi General Hospital.

 

Fonnie Lo Wing Fong,

About
Fonnie is a registered nurse, midwife, international certified lactation consultant (IBCLC), an Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI, IAIM), and a BCLS & AED Instructor (NHCS) with close to 40 years of experience.

She holds a practicing license both in Hong Kong and Singapore, and received her Bachelor of Nursing from La Trobe University, Australia.

After her graduation as a registered nurse/midwife in 1985, she worked in maternity wards, paediatric medical wards and neonatal intensive care units. With a deep interest to teach, share and support parents and caregivers, she pursued her dream and embarked on her journey in lactation and baby care in parentcraft centres in 2002

 

Ms. Rita Francis , Senior Parentcraft Counsellor, Lactation Consultant Parentcraft Centre, Infant Massage Instructor, Midwife, Mount Alvernia Hospital

About
Rita Francis is a state registered nurse and a midwife, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a certified IAIM infant Massage Instructor.

With her passion for supporting new parents in breastfeeding and babycare, she has been working in the maternity field for more than 25 years, educating and assisting new parents in understanding the awareness and importance of breastfeeding.

Furthermore, she conducts Childbirth Education courses as well nurturing touch for Infant Massage Classes at Mount Alvernia Hospital’s Parentcraft Centre.
