Pigeon innovates new bottle range made with T-Ester, a new type of plastic never before used in nursing bottles
Singapore, 28 April 2022 – Leading mother and baby care brand Pigeon has cemented its position in the industry in 1957 with its constant innovation of products and keeping up with the times; all to make the world more baby-friendly. With years of extensive research, Pigeon is proud to present its latest range of nursing bottles made using a new type of plastic material called T-Ester. The new T-Ester material was created with a new generation of mothers in mind. With a strong focus on both function and design, it took 4 years of intensive research and testing to perfect the balance. “I am happy this project is finally coming to fruition. It has taken many rigorous trials to get here,” says Mr Kouji Hondou, Senior Manager of the Pigeon Japan Engineering Department. In 2016, after a few arduous years of looking for another innovative material to add to its bottle range and a paused search, Pigeon has found a promising existing material made in Japan and modified it to meet the corporation’s stringent requirements.
In 2016, after a few arduous years of looking for another innovative material to add to the Pigeon bottle range and a paused search, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) worked with Pigeon to modify one of their existing materials to meet the corporation’s stringent requirements. Come 2019, the T-Ester material, originally named Altester, was born. Pigeon is the first and only brand in the market to have a milk bottle using T-Ester.
Glass-like clarity
Based on material tests, T-Ester has one of the highest levels of light transmittance (73.8%), second only to glass (77.4%) and above other common bottle materials, making the SofTouch™ T-Ester Nursing Bottle very clear and see-through. The premium clarity makes it easy to achieve a thorough clean and gauge when the bottle needs to be switched out.
UV steriliser-friendly
In recent years, many parents are moving towards using a UV steriliser instead of the traditional bottle-boiling method to keep everything clean for their little one. However, some might be concerned about photodegradation, a process whereby UV light weakens common plastics such as Polypropylene (PP) or Polyester, rendering those materials unsuitable for long term use.

Natural-feel nipple for seamless transition between breast and bottle
The SofTouch™ T-Ester Nursing Bottle features the trademark Pigeon SofTouch™ Wide-Neck Nipple, the market’s most natural-feel nipple and backed by over 60 years of extensive research. It supports a seamless switch between mother’s breast and bottle feeding. The wide base and the shape of the nipple imitates the feel of a mother’s breast, allowing babies to latch on effectively. Made with a soft and flexible material, babies can easily move their tongue naturally to drink. The advanced anti-colic system prevents babies from swallowing air and choking or getting gas in their stomach.
