Pigeon new SofTouch™ nipple is designed with an additional Latch-on line to guide the mother to help her baby to attach (latch-on) it appropriately. The nipple tip is ultra-soft (as soft as a marshmallow), especially the Size SS Nipple , which uses ultra-soft silicone rubber that is close to the elasticity of the mother's breast.
You can interchange your New SofTouch™ Nipple with the current SofTouch Nipple. However, the hood & screw cap of the New Pigeon SofTouch™ Nursing Bottle are not interchangeable with the hood or screw cap of existing Pigeon SofTouch Nursing Bottles.
The smaller the nipple size, the more important the proper attachment (latch-on) is, thus the wider the latch-on line, the more visible it is. As the baby's age increases, the importance decreases, so the line becomes narrower. View our available size line-up from SS to LLL with flow volume matched to baby’s development.
If your baby grows comfortable with one certain nipple, he or she may object if you change to a new one. Rotate the use of 2 or more nipples for about 2 months before replacing them. To prevent the nipples from becoming worn out, replace them earlier if necessary, without regard to how many times they have been used. The nipples may be worn by biting. Special attention is needed for teething child.
YES, you may interchange the SofTouch™ nipples onto your Mag Mag Spout Cup.
The nipple hole and the ventilation valve (vent) on the nipple flange could be clogged with milk residues. When the hole is clogged, milk does not flow easily. This may lead to situations whereby the nipple collapses and caves in towards the bottle. To prevent nipple collapsing, keep the nipple hole and vent clear so that they will not be clogged with milk residues. When you wash the nipple with washing detergent, gently use your fingers to rub clean the ventilation valves and vent. Please be careful not to pull and/or wash the ventilation valve too hard as the ventilation valve or vent may split and cause leaks.
Silicone rubber can be slightly delicate, and sensitive to tearing. Also, since the rubber is thin at the tip of the nipple, it may tear as a result of physical force even if it has not been used so many times. The “Y Cross Cut Nipple” in particular tends to split easily, as it has notches in three directions as compared to nipples with round holes. Please use a nipple cleansing brush when washing the nipple. Push the tip of the nipple with your fingers so that the nipple brush does not break through the tip of the nipple when washing it.
When the ventilation valve does not function properly, or your baby’s sucking power is too strong to adequately vent the bottle, it may lead to unexpected accidents such as the nipple collapsing, the nipple caving in towards the bottle, or your baby’s lips and tongue getting caught.
The bubbles that appear in the bottle while your baby is drinking are a sure sign that the ventilation is working correctly.

In cases when bubbles do not appear in the bottle, the nipple collapses when your baby’s mouth is not attached to the nipple, the nipple caves in towards the bottle is dislodged.

Please check the following points for  SofTouch™ Wide-Neck Nipple:
  • Is the ventilation valve clogged by milk residues, or anything else? If so, please wash the valve gently with your fingers.

  • Does the nipple match the baby's suction power? If the baby's suction power is strong and the nipple collapses, please use a nipple with the next highest milk flow after the currently used nipple.
Please check the following points for Flexible Slim-Neck Nipple:
  • Is the vent clogged with milk residues or anything else? If so, gently use a nipple cleaning brush to clean the residues of the vent area with our Pigeon liquid cleanser. Be careful not to pierce the vent area, as widening may lead to milk leakage.

  • Does the nipple match with the baby's suction power? If the baby's suction power is strong and the nipple collapses, please use a nipple with the next highest milk flow after the currently used nipple.

In the case of the nipple hole being round, milk may gush out when you turn the bottle upside down after making the formula in the bottle. This phenomenon is caused by the air in the bottle expanding due to the warm temperature of the milk, and the milk is then pushed out. After a while, it will settle down, and the milk will start dripping instead – this is the time to bottle feed your baby. You may also remove the screw cap once after making the formula in the bottle, then screw the screw cap on again so that the air pressure in the bottle is reduced and the milk does not gush out easily.
Your baby’s age, duration of feeding time and drinking amount will be your guide for choosing the best nipple hole size. Babies of the same age will have different requirements. Therefore, select the best size according to the development of your baby. When your baby is taking longer times to finish drinking, even if ventilation is working well or the nipple keeps collapsing, please upgrade to the next size. Pigeon has wide-neck nursing bottles (SofTouch™ Nursing Bottle and Mag Mag Training cup) and non-wide bottles (Flexible slim-neck bottle). Wide-neck nursing bottles are interchangeable, but they are not compatible with slim-neck nursing bottles, so they cannot be used as a set.
If you notice your baby feeding slow, it may be a sign to upgrade the nipple size to a bigger one. The recommended time for each feeding is 10-15 minutes. If your baby is taking 20 minutes or longer, you may want to switch to an M-size or Y-cut nipple.
Yes, it is highly recommended to use washing detergent. Milk contains fat and protein that cannot be washed away using just plain water.  Before sterilizing the bottles, be sure to wash them clean with washing detergent and rinse them thoroughly. We recommend using Pigeon liquid cleanser to wash the bottles and nipples as it is made with 100% food grade ingredients, and therefore a safer option as compared with general dish-washing detergent.
